Foton South Africa Marks Major Milestone at NAMPO 2026

Foton South Africa is marking a defining moment in its local history at NAMPO 2026, taking place from 12 to 15 May at NAMPO Park in Bothaville, with its most ambitious showcase to date at Stand F18.

The brand's Light Commercial Vehicle, Medium Commercial Vehicle, and Heavy Commercial Vehicle divisions appear together under a single banner, creating a visible expression of the unified, end-to-end commercial vehicle offering that Foton is building for South Africa.

The appearance follows a period of significant investment in Foton's local footprint, anchored by its brand-new assembly facility in Gqeberha. By combining local production capability with Foton's global engineering heritage, the brand is signalling a long-term commitment to the agricultural, logistics, and construction sectors that form the backbone of the South African economy.

The Star of the Show: Auman 560

Launching on Wednesday, 13 May, and making its highly anticipated first sighting in South Africa, the Auman 560 is the undisputed star of the Foton stand.

Engineered for high-efficiency long-haul operations, the Auman 560 is a 6x4 AMT tractor developed by a Foton Daimler Joint Venture Company. It delivers the power, range, and driver-assistance technology that South African fleet operators have been calling for, with NAMPO attendees among the first to witness the capabilities of this heavy-duty contender.

Key technical highlights include:

  • Powertrain: CUMMINS X13E3-560 engine, a 12,900 cm3 6-cylinder powerhouse.
  • Performance: 412 kW (560 HP) at 1800 r/min and 2600 N.m of torque between 1000 and 1400 r/min.
  • Transmission: ZF TraXon 12-speed AMT for seamless power delivery and optimised fuel economy.
  • Suspension and handling: ZF-Air Suspension system with 8 airbags to support load stability.
  • Endurance: Dual fuel tank system with a total capacity of 1,060 litres, made up of 760 litres on the right and 300 litres on the left.
  • Safety: ABS, ESC, and a ZF Intarder to complement the engine braking system.

With a Gross Combination Mass of 56,000 kg, the Auman 560 is engineered to redefine the heavy-duty segment in South Africa.

Expanding the Lineup: The Foton Miler Lite

Alongside the heavy-duty reveal, Foton is also providing a first look at the Miler truck on the LCV side of the stand. While the Auman 560 takes centre stage, the Miler Lite represents Foton's dedication to the light-duty market, offering a glimpse into the versatile solutions arriving in the South African market soon.

A New Era for Foton South Africa

The showcase at NAMPO 2026 is more than a display of new hardware. It is a celebration of Foton's evolving footprint in South Africa. The synergy between the upcoming vehicle launches and the established production at the Gqeberha factory signals a new era of reliability and brand unity for Foton South Africa.
